This is my current project (sorry the photos are so dark). It’s an old phonograph and stereo cabinet that I found for free online and a joint effort by my friend and her mom got it to me! I owe them!

In my excitement to start gutting it I stupidly neglected to take a before photo… Kicking myself about that. This is basically what it looked like when I got it:

The finish on mine is a bit darker/redder but it has the same hardware and the same metal grill across the speaker/door.

So far I’ve gutted it completely and taken all the hardware off. Now I’m in the process of sanding it. I spent last night sanding by hand but today I managed to borrow an electric sander which I will use from now on. Thank goodness because sanding for hours by hand is hard work! I don’t want to use any chemicals to strip the varnish because I have to work on this in my apartment so I’m just sanding.

Tonight I’m going to put down some plastic and turn my hallway into a little workshop!
